MTV AWARDS / UK TICKET NEWS / NEW SINGLE | Comments :
26/10/2008 by WOMBATS
The WOMBATS will be playing a 7-date tour of the UK, including a massive homecoming headline show at the new Liverpool Echo Arena on 22 November where they will become one of the first indie bands to play the 10,000 capacity venue. The gig will be The WOMBATS' final show of the year before they take a break from touring to work on their new album. The Great News for fans is that the show in Liverpool has an extra 400 tickets which have been release today!!! Also last minutes additions have been made for the Edinburgh Picture House and London Forum. So hurry and avoid disappointment!!!!!!
November dates:
12 November Edinburgh The Picture House
13 November Glasgow Academy
15 November London Matter (inside O2)
16 November London Coronet
17 November London Shepherds Bush Empire
18 November London Forum
22 November Liverpool Echo Arena
Also, The WOMBATS have announced that they will be releasing two new singles over the next few months, the first new tracks to be recorded since the release of their debut album ‘The WOMBATS Proudly Present...A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation' in November 2007. The first single to be released on 15 December, is a special one-off seasonal song entitled ‘Is This Christmas'. The single will be released on CD, 2 x 7inch with all proceeds going to MENCAP. The song also features comedian ‘Les Dennis'. In a year full of doom and gloom the lads want to bring some cheer to us all in the years closing month.
‘Is This Christmas' will be followed by the single ‘My Circuitboard City' on 9 February. The single, which sees the band's sound develop and progress in a more post-punk, scuzzier direction, was produced by Tore Johanson (The Cardigans; Franz Ferdinand) at London Metropolis Studio. The song demonstrates a darker and more mature side to the band. As ever with The WOMBATS, the bleaker lyrical content is belied with hi-octane, effervescent music that has become so distinctive to their sound and imperative to their success in the past year.
The lads also been asked to perform a special one of unique cover at the 2008 MTV Europe Awards in Liverpool next month. The performance is sure to grab all the tabloid headlines and spark a bit of controversy so watch this space and tune in on November 6th, 2008 Live and exclusive on MTV.

please come to america i really really need to see you live please come to chicago and don't let there be an age limit! i am just going to write and write and write until this comment thing makes me stop so i can stand out and maybe you'll actually read this i am in love with all of you especially DAN because i am also a drummer. though now i feel a bit guilty since i also play guitar and sing. oh well i am a drummer first and we drummers always stick together (grin) i am writing this long to let all of you know that i really really really love you all, i am a slow typer (yes i know that was bad grammer) so you know that i really love you a lot. if i didn't love, why would i be wasting my sunday when i could be out with my buddies. remember i am choosing you guys over all my buddies! i hope you are actually reading this, but the end of it is just nonsense the beginning is what you really need to read. oh my god i was looking at your past shows and i realized that you did come to america but it was a long time ago this makes me want to cry because i missed it and i feel very triste (i speak three languages italian french and english with a little bit of sign language and spanish on the side triste is french for sad in case you didn't know). i should go now
i love you all so much i will marry you as a group (yay for polygamy!!) just kidding
